Gardener/Groundsman for Knox College and Salmond College

  • Do you have experience in landscaping, garden and grounds maintenance for a large site?
  • Are you seeking a varied role within a building/grounds maintenance team?
  • Would you like to join an organisation with a rich history and exciting future?

Knox and Salmond are residential colleges affiliated to the University of Otago and picturesquely set on 11 acres of park-like grounds featuring rose gardens, manicured lawns, bush-clad walkways and historic rhododendron dells. Both Colleges are owned and operated by the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand, and each College accommodates approximately 260 students.

Knox and Salmond Colleges are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced professional to fill the boots of our departing Gardener/Groundsman. This is a full-time role with responsibility for maintaining the existing high standard of grounds/garden maintenance of the property that is the Knox College and Salmond College campus.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • An enjoyment of working as part of a team and using your initiative
  • A 'big picture' view of garden/grounds maintenance and development
  • Strong time management and organisational skills

A trade qualification is desirable but not essential. High levels of professionalism and integrity are a must and an understanding and appreciation of the ethos and values of the Presbyterian Church are also important.

All applications (comprising a completed application form, CV and covering letter) and any enquiries should be addressed to the Operations Manager, Max Gillies, at opsmanager@knoxcollege.ac.nz

Applications close Wednesday 12th April 2017.
